Convert and enhance images

PNG ignores the quality setting because it is lossless. Enhance uses smooth upscaling and sharpening, not AI, so it makes soft images crisper but can't recover detail that isn't there. If your browser can't write AVIF, that option reports an error and you can pick another format.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion and compression happen inside your browser, so your files stay on your device.

Why does video take as long as the clip?

The video is re-encoded in your browser as it plays, which runs in real time. Keep the tab open and visible until it finishes.

Is Enhance the same as AI upscaling?

No. It uses smooth upscaling and sharpening. It makes soft images crisper but can’t restore detail that isn’t in the original.

Is PixSqueeze free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.

Which image format is best for a website?

WebP is a good default because it is much smaller than PNG or JPG at similar quality. Use PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency, and JPG for the widest compatibility.

Why is my result larger than the original?

Files that are already well compressed can grow when re-encoded. Lower the quality, set a target size or reduce the resolution.
